Six Daily Disciplines for Success

imagesBeing successful is not something that happens to you over night.  It takes hard work and discipline.  It takes patience and a whole lot of repeating the same types of tasks and habits every day.  Take a look at your daily habits are they helping propel you forward towards your success?  I ask this question because it is important for you to recognize how you are either helping or hurting yourself.

How do you start your day?  Do you pour yourself a cup of coffee, sit down on the couch and watch the daily news on your television?  Maybe you sit at the kitchen table with your tea while you read the morning newspaper.  Are these actions helping you get closer to the goals that you want to accomplish?  Do you eat breakfast or do you just grab a muffin or something similar as you are racing out the door?  Here are some proven disciplines adapted from the bestselling book The Success Principles by Jack Canfield, the basis for my Success Principles for the New Normal workshops. These daily disciplines, when practiced every day, will become habits that will help you to succeed:

MORNING INTENTION & VISUALIZATION

As soon as you wake, set your intention for what you want to accomplish in the day and visualize your goals as already being fulfilled. If you can see it, you can be it! During your meditation repeat your chosen affirmation for the day. Take time to meditate to center yourself and begin your day with intention.

USE EXTERNAL IMAGES OF SUCCESS

Create a Vision Board that represent the experiences you want to have, be and do and put it somewhere you can see them every day as a powerful reminder of your goals. I have on my desk credenza a CD case standing upright which contains 5”x5” images I rotate daily as my subtle in-office vision board.

THINK A BETTER FEELING THOUGHT

Your feelings create your circumstances – so when you’re feeling negative, shift your thoughts to ones that make you feel better and raise your vibration. Remember that you must become a vibrational match for the things and experiences that you want to attract into your life.

HAVE AN ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE

Just as my blog post of January 21, 2015 described, an attitude of gratitude is essential to successful living. Take a few moments every day to express appreciation for the many blessings in your life. Whether you write it down in your journal, carry a “gratitude rock” like the one Lee Brower talks of in The Secret, or simply make note of it in your mind, take time each day to focus on the things you are grateful for. No matter what your situation, there are always things to be grateful for. The more you focus on what you are grateful for, the more things and experiences you will attract to be grateful for.

TAKE ACTION

The last six letters of the Law of Attraction is “action”. There’s no such thing as “the perfect time” to act – so just do it! Lean into it. Once you begin to act, the universe will respond by sending you the people, resources and opportunities that will bring you closer to your vision. The feeling of joy or fulfillment in what you are doing is your internal GPS telling you that the actions you are taking are on the right track. Follow your heart.

ACKNOWLEDGE THAT IT’S WORKING

When something changes for the better in your life from your actions, appreciate it and acknowledge it. The more you recognize that the Law of Attraction is working, the more impact it will have on your life. When you create that perfect parking spot, acknowledge it. When you get the table you want in the restaurant, acknowledge it. When you receive unexpected income, acknowledge it. When you meet someone who can help you achieve your goal, acknowledge that the Law of Attraction is working. The more you acknowledge that it’s working, the more it will work. It’s that simple.

When you make a commitment to take these actions each day, you’ll start to move forward, with confidence, in the direction of your dreams. Believe that they are not only possible, but that they are already in progress.
