In preparation for that I will have a series of weekly blogs reminding you of goal setting and achievement basics. Here&#8217;s to a great start to your new year!<\/p>\n<p>In order to get from where you are to where you want to be, you must <strong>first decide what you want!\u00a0 <\/strong>Jack Canfield, in his book <u><a href=\"http:\/\/successseriesllc.com\/success-series-resources.php\" target=\"_blank\">The Success Principles<\/a><\/u>, tells us that most people foul up this crucial first step because they simply can\u2019t see how it\u2019s possible to get what they want \u2013 so they don\u2019t even let themselves want it.<!--more--><\/p>\n<h2>WHAT SCIENCE NOW KNOWS ABOUT GOALS<\/h2>\n<p>What scientists now know about how the brain works is that you must first decide WHAT you want, before your brain can figure out HOW to get it.\u00a0 As soon as you lock-in your desire, your subconscious creative mind will come up with big ideas to make it happen.\u00a0 Your <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Reticular_activating_system\" target=\"_blank\">reticular activating system<\/a> will begin to notice and attract the people, resources and opportunities that you need to make your dream come true.<\/p>\n<h2>MAKE GOALS\u00a0MEASURABLE<\/h2>\n<p>Once you\u2019re clear about what you want, you must\u00a0<strong>then turn each item into a measurable goal<\/strong>.\u00a0 That is, what do you want, and by when. Write down your goals in detail, and read your list everyday.\u00a0 I recommend writing down a minimum of three goals in each of the seven life areas:\u00a0 physical, financial, professional, relational, spiritual, personal, and philanthropical. My <em><a href=\"http:\/\/successseriesllc.com\/documents\/Personal_Strategic_Plan_Template_v7.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Personal Strategic Plan<\/a><\/em> is a helpful tool, download it <a href=\"http:\/\/successseriesllc.com\/documents\/Personal_Strategic_Plan_Template_v7.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.
